    Videos

All right, thought the ppl here at SD could help me out with my problem.

I am making video tutorials and using a program called Camtasia to record my screen and the program also works like Windows Movie Maker (using a timeline and add titles and such). Now when I record my screen and voice the program renders it into an .avi. I am capable of watching and hearing the video once it is recorded and saved.

Now the problem comes in when over people try to watch the videos. I have DivX codec program thingy, and so will they, but they wont be able to see the video, just hear it. Anyone know why?

I could always reduce the quality of the movie drastically and save as a Windows Media (WMV) file and ppl can see that one, but I want the quality to be good.

    Any help would be awesome

It does not matter what program they're using, they have to have the correct codec in order to play the video portion of it.

All right, but how do they get the correct codec to play it? Or is it me having a different codec than everyone else is the problem?

Your program might give you the option to export the codec so that you cna give it to them. I think that most media players will connect online and try to download hte appropriate codec

What's happening is it's using a newer technology (codec) than what your friends have to watch it, so they can't see it. They have to download the codecs to be able to see it.
